IT's ME,... James

Hi I’m James - avid video game designer and player.

I love designing and creating video games, and of course playing them.

Qualification - Advanced Diploma in Game Design and Production (graduation February 2022).
In my spare time I create levels out of the free unreal engine assets and prototype game mechanics to test my ideas.sg
I have excellent written and verbal communication skills - I’m great in leading teams and working with a wide range of people.
I’ve been in the workforce and have experience in customer service, hospitality, and retail.
I like designing Levels in engine with art assets.
Game mechanics and core gameplay loops.
Hobbies and interests - When I’m not gaming I watch anime, play Yugioh and get outdoors with Scouts and play volleyball.
Other Qualifications - High School Certificate (NSW), Certificate 3 Business Administration, Diploma Screen and Media

I am full of ideas, and I am good at presenting and pitching them, and making sure the team understands the core aspects of the game.
I have good game engine knowledge – e.g. I’m good with UNITY, Unreal Engine 4 and 5.
Microsoft Windows skills.
I have experience with Version Control Systems (VCS); GitHub
Experience in rendering techniques, lighting in engine.
Level Design:
- Design (layout)

- Communication with the artists to nail the aesthetic
Designing
- Player movement (mechanics)
- Designing game mechanics and player feedback
- Game play loops and balancing mechanics
I have User Interface skills:
- Ability to create visually appealing and consistent UI (e.g. menus, buttons, icons etc.).
- Knowledge of UI industry standards and trends.
- Ability to iterate quickly on designs and present variations of layouts and UI elements.
- Ability to articulate design thinking when presenting UI designs.
